  • "Fight Back Like A Girl" on February 15 at 6:30 PM at Brooklyn Law School with New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman and some very funny women. We're cosponsoring with our friends at INBK and VoteProChoice for a night of laughter, learning, and resistance. Register at Eventbrite
  • Send some Valentine's Day greetings to women's health clinics to say thank you for the work they do. Then send some anti-valentines to those in Congress and the New York State Senate who stand in the way of women's health care.

  • Call the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and ask for Scott Lloyd to be fired for unethical behavior.  Since October, E. Scott Lloyd, the director of the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), has tried to prevent at least 4 pregnant teenagers in ORR custody from accessing legal abortions. Now, it has been revealed that in at least one instance he tried to intervene with a medical abortion that had already begun - attempting to use a controversial, unproven method of a high dose of hormones to “reverse” the procedure. These young women have the legal right to a safe and timely abortion regardless of their immigration status, and it is unacceptable that they have not only been put at risk of forced birth, but also considered as guinea pigs for a procedure with unknown health risks. Lloyd's abuse of power and his egregious violations of the rights of these young women demonstrate he has no place in civil service. He must be ejected from his position at ORR immediately and replaced with someone who respects the rule of law. Call Alex Azar, the Secretary of HHS (202-205-5445) and use this suggested script: Hello, my name is [NAME] and I’m an American from Brooklyn. I’m calling to leave a message for Secretary Azar. Please tell Mr. Azar that E. Scott Lloyd’s abuse of power as the Director of the Office of Refugee Resettlement is completely unacceptable. Not only has he tried to block multiple undocumented teenagers from obtaining legal abortions, we now know he considered attempting to reverse at least one medical abortion with an unproven drug intervention. Mr. Lloyd must be fired immediately and replaced with a public servant who respects the rule of law. Thank you for all your hard work answering phones.
